This is our favorite type of kennel for Crate training your new puppy! It offers them a "den-like" sanctuary where they can feel safe and also observe whats going on with you and their family in the home. We suggest purchasing a crate like this that comes with a separator to use through all stages of your puppy's first year as they grow! We suggest a crate that is 25 inches tall or taller for your Mini Goldendoodle or Labradoodle. The crate in the link to the right is the size that we suggest will be most comfortable for your full grown doodle.

Here is our favorite CRATE TRAINING VIDEO!

Puppy to Adult Wire Crate

Crate Accessories

These crate beds are wonderful because you can get the correct size to fit perfectly inside your puppy's crate! You may want to just keep puppy pads or newspaper in the bottom of their crate the first month though until their bladders are large enough to keep their crate area clean.

A crate cover like this is nice for night time or "quiet time" as to help them not be distracted and help them fall asleep easier. This tarp like material is great because they aren't able to grab it and pull it through into the crate like they would a blanket or a towel.

These crate bowls that hang in the kennel are nice to have so your puppy's food and water is off the floor. This gives your puppy more room in his crate thus making less messes.

A replacement crate floor tray is nice to have on hand if your dirty one needs a good washing! Or for if you just want to start with a new fresh one!

These types of puppy pads are our favorite because of the material they are made out of! The brands with the fluffy absorbent material (that looks like cotton ball material) is not good for a puppy who maybe tempted to tear it apart. It gets everywhere, like the stuffing inside a stuffed animal!  The puppy pad brands we have listed are not as simple for your puppy to rip and definitely not as messy!

Puppy Gates! We have had both and like both types! "The easy walk through" Regalo brand is good at the top of the stairs or for anywhere you don't want to be stepping over a gate. The "Positions and Lock" types of gates are great if you don't mind swinging one leg over to get to where you're going.

Beds

These Dog beds are all great options for your puppy! The reasons we like a raised or elevated dog bed is: they have breathable fabric that allows air to circulate around all angles of your dog keeping your dog cool. Assembly is not difficult.

For measurement purposes, keep in mind that your Mini Goldendoodle or Labradoodle could be as tall as 25 inches from paw to top of head and as long as 35 inches long.

Leashes and Collars

Retractible leashes are always nice to have to avoid the leash dragging the ground and getting tangled and wrapped around your and your puppy's legs!

For a Mini Goldendoodle OR Labradoodle puppy, that will be 35 pounds full grown or smaller, you're going to want to get one of these small Collars that are 7.5"-10", Width 3/8",Size X-Small;

*Remember, you won't be needing a leash or collar until you get the 2nd vaccination and de-worming from your vet at 8-9 weeks of age. You will need to keep your puppy up off the grass and ground outside until they are full protected against parasites and parvovirus!!* It's always fun to pick their gear out in advance though. Here are some Leashes, Harnesses, and Collars that we recommend!!

Harnesses are wonderful for leash training your new pup!

For a collar the measurements are best for a puppy as follows: Neck 7.5"-10", Width 3/8",Size X-Small;

These collars do not stretch themselves, please adjust them and make sure to leave ONLY 2 fingers between collar and dog's neck.

Blueberry Pet has some of our favorite fun styles of Collars AND Leashes!!

Bath & Grooming

These wide toothed combs work wonders when grooming our doodles. It will be a great comb to have when brushing after bath time.

A good pair of hair trimming scissors will be needed if you are going to want to trim your doodle's eye hair as needed as well as the hair around their bum to minimize risk of "dingleberries" or collections of poop on the hair around their bottom!

Goldendoodles and Labradoodles hair needs to be brushed after every bath or as much as possible and maintained/groomed every 2-3 months. Goldendoodles and Labradoodle's hair mats very easily especially their first year due to their hair having an extra soft, fine texture. A dematting tool helps extremely well with matting problems. They tend to mat mainly in the areas that their legs rub against themselves and on their underbelly where they lay down on the ground.  Sometimes it happens under their neck as well.

These nail clippers have a safety guard for not clipping nails too short.

This ear cleaning solutions works wonders and contains Tea Tree Oil to clean and Aloe Vera to soothe any irritation.

The Raspberry scented Oster Puppy Cologne is our FAVORITE! Yum!

To help with dander it's best to use a puppy conditioner as well as a shampoo. We really like these 2in1 tearless products for your puppy as well as the Burts Bees Waterless Shampoo and Wipes option!

A conditioner is really going to help the allergy causing dander in close to the skin and out of the air, also in turn let you go longer between baths!

Toys & Treats!

For your doodle puppy who will be teething the first 9 months of his or her life, you want to be EXTREMELY careful with the toys you leave them unattended with! Do NOT leave your puppy unattended with a stuffed animal OR a tennis ball. They will tear them apart and possibly swallow them.

Ropes are the absolute best toy for your puppy the first year of their life. After that you can introduce stuffed animals for longer periods of time. The "Kong Wobbler Treat Dispenser" as well as the "Find the Treat Doggie Games" are great alternatives when leaving your dog for more than 4 hours at a time. It will keep them entertained and snacking throughout the day.

We strongly suggest NOT giving your puppy treats the first 4-6 months due to their digestive systems still being infant. We highly recommend using kibbles of their "Taste of the Wild" puppy food for their first months of name, "trick", and potty training. After that, we suggest Bully Sticks and Rawhide Bones occasionally for good behavior but keep in mind that too much of those can lead to stomach upset and/or diarrhea.

After 6-9 months of age their stomachs we be able to better handle treats and longer time with the rawhide bone and bully sticks!

Below are some fun "Dog Games" and Stuffed Animals! Keep in mind that some brands have different (Levels) that your puppy will have to learn and get used to before moving onto another level. :) Also please don't leave a stuffed animal or tennis with your dog unattended. A teething dog will eat them.

We have had lots of families have success with "potty bell training." When they ring the bell on the designated doorknob, you let them out. You can also have a phrase that you occasionally say for example: "Go Potty Outside?" that you say to your dog every time you take them out. They will get conditioned to go to the door every time you say the phrase and they need to go potty.

Travel

Always have water accessible to your dog to prevent overheating and dehydration.

For people who will be flying with their puppies while they are still under 15 pounds, here is the travel, airplane certified bag we really like! It comes in 4 different colors, comes in 3 sizes in which we recommend the medium for dogs under 15 pounds and the Large for pets under 22 if you are going to be flying as they grow larger. It has a pocket for water bowl and bag of food. Also a machine-washable faux lambskin liner is included! Puppy pads are a must when traveling especially if your puppy is still well, a puppy!

These dog seat belts and dog booster seats are a must for Mini Doodles who love road trips! They are also great for a trip around town running errands, to the dog park, or *gulp* the Vet's office!

These waterproof lights clip right onto your dog's collar for Summer night fun or an evening walk in your neighborhood OR onto their lifejacket!

While boating it is smart to have a life jacket for everyone, even your doodle.

Keep your doodles cool! These Dog Crate Fans are nice and easy to use for your dog if they are spending the day in their crate in a hot garage or warm part of the house!
